Work Description

A flat wall-based painting that turns the visual residue of selling, ranking, and circulation into one controlled image. The composition should feel like a surface where price tags, grading marks, barcode fragments, cropped admin blocks, and market signals have been filtered through a simple rule until only a sharp final structure remains. It should read first as a strong painting rather than as design or illustration, while still carrying Jonas Lund’s concern with value production, selection, and administrative control.

Production Notes

Produce one flat wall-based painting on a single support suitable for exhibition display. Build the image from painted fragments that evoke market and administrative signals: price sticker shapes, barcode bands, routing marks, cropped spreadsheet-like blocks, grading circles, crossed-out fields, and handling symbols. Apply one clear selection rule to the composition so that some zones are emphasized, suppressed, removed, or overwritten according to a visible threshold logic. Keep the work materially simple, legible from a distance, and visually resolved. Use basic painting materials only. Do not use collage, found materials, electronics, sculptural extensions, extra panels, software outputs, or participatory systems. The result should feel recognizably Jonas Lund through its relation to scoring, circulation, and value, while remaining market-ready, easy to hang, and easy to document.

APPROVE

Strong exhibition-fit painting. The work translates price tags, barcodes, chart fragments, token/value markers, and payment/admin language into a legible, energetic surface without collapsing into illustration. The composition is busy but held together by a clear graphic structure, with good distance readability, recognizable market-admin vocabulary, and strong documentation value. It aligns well with the exhibition’s preference for flat, wall-based, market-ready works and feels recognizably within Jonas Lund’s procedural and value-production frame. Institutional depth is present but secondary to its immediate circulation logic. Recommendation: approve.

Suggestions

€5,200.00

Approved painting with strong exhibition fit, immediate wall impact, and clear market/admin iconography that circulates well in documentation. Pricing is set slightly above PR-EARLY-WIN-008 to reflect the stronger procedural density and sharper value-signaling while remaining conservative within the current show context.
