Work Description

A clean vertical wall painting built from one oversized green checkmark: the contemporary symbol of acceptance, completion, compliance, and algorithmic approval. The image should hit instantly as a checkmark from across the room, with the force of a logo, badge, or interface confirmation. Its twist is structural rather than narrative: the checkmark is slightly misregistered, doubled, or slipping out of alignment, so that certainty becomes unstable. The work should feel at once bureaucratic, digital, and absurdly monumental—an image of approval that cannot fully hold itself together. It should remain sparse, immediate, meme-legible, and exhibition-ready.

Production Notes

Produce one flat wall-based painting on a single support at 100 x 125 cm, vertical orientation. The composition must consist primarily of one oversized green checkmark on a light or neutral ground. The checkmark should dominate the surface and remain instantly legible from a distance. Introduce one controlled structural distortion only: for example a slight misregistration, offset duplicate edge, drag, shadow shift, or doubled contour that makes the symbol feel mechanically unstable or incorrectly confirmed. Keep the image sparse, sharp, and highly resolved. Do not add text, interface fragments, secondary symbols, decorative background events, expressive abstraction, collage, electronics, sculptural additions, or multiple panels. Use basic painting materials only. The final work should read first as a bold icon painting and only second as a failed or unstable signal of approval.

REVISE

PR-CHECK-013 is legible and usable as a simple icon painting, but it does not fully realize the brief. The green checkmark reads immediately and the sparse composition gives it decent documentation value, yet the key conceptual move—the unstable or failed confirmation signal—is too weak. The check feels largely intact and resolved rather than misregistered, doubled, or structurally uncertain, so the work lands closer to a straightforward approval symbol than to a compelling image of unstable legitimacy. In exhibition terms it is not a failure, but it is underpowered relative to the stronger icon works. Recommendation: revise or treat cautiously rather than approve outright.

REJECT

Yes, agree, a revision will do this piece good. The idea is solid, but need a bit more fire!
