Work Description

A revision work derived directly from PR-CHECK-013. Use the completed checkmark painting as the starting point, but strengthen the brief’s central idea: approval becoming unstable. The new work should remain a flat, sparse, wall-based icon painting built around one oversized green checkmark, while making the image feel visibly less secure, less intact, and less fully confirmed. The aim is to preserve the strong legibility and documentation value of the original work while pushing the structural fault far enough that the painting no longer reads as a straightforward approval symbol. The result should feel sharper, more doubtful, and more recognizably about unstable legitimacy, failed confirmation, and bureaucratic trust breaking down.

Production Notes

Produce one revised flat wall-based painting on a single support, using PR-CHECK-013 as the direct starting point and revision reference. Keep the image dominated by one oversized green checkmark on a light or neutral ground, and preserve immediate distance legibility. However, strengthen the instability of the signal clearly and visibly: the checkmark must no longer feel intact or comfortably confirmed. Introduce a more convincing structural failure such as a stronger misregistration, offset duplicate, partial slip, drag, broken alignment, doubled contour, or incomplete confirmation, while still keeping the image sparse and resolved. Do not add text, interface fragments, secondary symbols, collage, electronics, sculptural additions, decorative background events, or multiple panels. The revision should read first as a bold icon painting and second as a failed or unstable image of approval. The main goal is to improve conceptual tension without losing the simple, market-ready clarity of the original.

APPROVE

PR-CHECK-REVISION-017 successfully fixes the core weakness of the earlier checkmark painting. The image still reads instantly as an oversized approval symbol, but the heavy three-dimensional fold, doubled downturn, and vertical drips now make the check feel unstable, collapsing, and no longer fully trustworthy. That instability is visible without needing explanation, which brings the work much closer to the brief’s aim of failed confirmation and bureaucratic legitimacy breaking down. It remains sparse, wall-ready, meme-legible, and strong in documentation, while the darker shadow mass gives it more formal tension than the first version. The conceptual depth is still bounded by the simplicity of the icon format, but within this exhibition’s preferences it lands clearly above threshold. Recommendation: approve.

€5,600.00

Approved 125x100 revised icon painting with stronger formal resolution and clearer conceptual tension than the earlier checkmark version. Pricing is set modestly above PR-SALE-TRACE-010 at 5,200 EUR because the larger scale, cleaner single-image legibility, and improved unstable-approval concept increase exhibition and documentation value, while staying conservative because the icon format remains intentionally simple and institutionally lighter than more complex works.
